Custom made to measure

Satin wedding dresses

A satin wedding dress has a smooth, lustrous finish, from structured mikado that holds a full skirt to soft charmeuse that drapes close to the body. Our satin designs include the Kinsley and Delinia fit-and-flare gowns, the Juniper in classic mikado, the Venus in stretchy Italian satin and the Jolie in Japanese charmeuse, all made to your measurements.

From our brides

“Together we designed the boho top piece of my dreams… The second consultation I decided on a dress to match the boho top, and they helped me get that modern/simple look I was looking for.”

Satin Wedding Dresses: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between satin, mikado and charmeuse?

They are all smooth, lustrous fabrics. Mikado is a heavier, structured satin that holds shape well for A-line and ball gown skirts, while charmeuse is lighter and silkier, so it drapes and moves close to the body. Our Juniper and Iris use mikado, and the Jolie and Rowan use Japanese charmeuse.

Is a satin wedding dress comfortable?

It can be. The Venus is made in a stretchy Italian satin, designed from bride feedback to be super flattering and extremely comfortable, and the Bixby’s charmeuse has enough weight to feel substantial but is light enough to dance the night away in.

Can a satin dress have lace or other details?

Yes. The Mariah is an Italian satin trumpet gown edged with scalloped eyelash lace, and the Clementine pairs satin with a detachable bow. For a cleaner look, see our simple wedding dresses.

Can I customize a satin wedding dress from your collection?

Yes. Every dress is made in your own measurements and proportions. Based on any existing design we can change the neckline shape, choose a different lining color, add removable sleeves and straps, add support, specify the train length and more.

How much does a custom satin wedding dress cost?

Lace & Liberty custom gowns range from $1,500 to $5,500, and most brides spend $2,000–$3,500. Customizations to an existing collection design start at $250. Get a personalized number with our price estimate.

How long does it take to make a custom satin wedding dress?

Our standard turnaround is about 6 months from the date you order, including consultations, design finalization, production edits and shipping. Rush options of 18, 12 or 8 weeks ($250, $450 or $600) may be available depending on our production schedule and fabric availability. See timing & rush orders.

Can I try on satin wedding dresses before I order?

Yes. Book a free one-hour appointment at our San Francisco showroom at 1301 Castro St to try on 200+ samples in sizes 0–20, or a free 20-minute virtual design consultation from anywhere. We ship worldwide from San Francisco.
