Custom made to measure
Reception dresses and second looks for brides
A reception dress is the second look a bride changes into after the ceremony, usually lighter and easier to dance in. At Lace & Liberty that can be a bridal jumpsuit like the Powell or Brisa, a gown with a detachable overskirt you take off for the party, or a dancing dress made to your measurements.

From our brides
“I feel like so much of picking “the dress” comes down to feeling comfortable and trusting the people at these shops, and the team at Lace & Liberty really gave me that experience.”

Reception Dresses & Bridal Jumpsuits: frequently asked questions
What is a reception dress?
A reception dress is a second outfit a bride wears after the ceremony, for the dinner, party and dancing. It is often shorter, lighter or less structured than a ceremony gown, so it is easier to move in.
Can one dress work for both the ceremony and the reception?
Yes. Several of our gowns have a detachable overskirt. The Cassia has a matching half overskirt for the ceremony that can be taken off for a night of fun at the reception, and the Iris, Eloise and Alina also have optional detachable overskirts.
Do you make bridal jumpsuits?
Yes. The Powell is a crepe jumpsuit with a statement bow ($1,900), the Brisa is a charmeuse jumpsuit with an extra-low back ($1,650), and the Ava jumpsuit has a stretch crepe corset bodice with champagne embroidery ($1,700), with a matching cape available.
Can I get a shorter dress for dancing?
Yes. The Bixby, a charmeuse gown light enough to dance the night away in, can even be made knee-length and used as your dancing dress. Talk to a designer about the length you want.
How much does a custom reception dress cost?
Lace & Liberty custom gowns range from $1,500 to $5,500, and most brides spend $2,000–$3,500. Customizations to an existing collection design start at $250. Get a personalized number with our price estimate.
How long does it take to make a custom reception dress?
Our standard turnaround is about 6 months from the date you order, including consultations, design finalization, production edits and shipping. Rush options of 18, 12 or 8 weeks ($250, $450 or $600) may be available depending on our production schedule and fabric availability. See timing & rush orders.
