Custom made to measure

Modest wedding dresses

A modest wedding dress gives you more coverage, usually with sleeves, a higher neckline and a less revealing back. Because every Lace & Liberty gown is made to your measurements, you can start from any design and add sleeves, including removable ones, add straps or change the neckline shape, to get the coverage you are comfortable with.

From our brides

“I LOVE my dress. It was so comfortable and I felt radiant. Ali my designer helped me with design, fabric selection, and made sure the sketches aligned with my vision. I will treasure my dress forever, even more so as it’s one-of-a-kind.”

Modest Wedding Dresses: frequently asked questions

Can you add sleeves to a wedding dress?

Yes. Based on any existing design we can add sleeves, including removable ones, and straps. The Sydney is a French Alençon lace mermaid gown with detachable sleeves. See more on our long sleeve wedding dresses page.

Do you have high-neck wedding dresses?

Yes. The Vivienne is a high-neck lace fit-and-flare wedding dress, and the Adele is a halter-neck lace A-line with a sheer illusion neckline.

Can I get more coverage on a dress I love?

Usually. Several of our designs can be customized for brides preferring more or less coverage, such as adding coverage to the sides of the Bixby’s bodice. Your designer can adjust the neckline, back and sleeves.

Do you have long-sleeve separates?

Yes. The Abbey top has long lace sleeves and is our take on Victorian; pair it with a skirt like the Muse.

How much does a custom modest wedding dress cost?

Lace & Liberty custom gowns range from $1,500 to $5,500, and most brides spend $2,000–$3,500. Customizations to an existing collection design start at $250. Get a personalized number with our price estimate.

How long does it take to make a custom modest wedding dress?

Our standard turnaround is about 6 months from the date you order, including consultations, design finalization, production edits and shipping. Rush options of 18, 12 or 8 weeks ($250, $450 or $600) may be available depending on our production schedule and fabric availability. See timing & rush orders.

Can I try on modest wedding dresses before I order?

Yes. Book a free one-hour appointment at our San Francisco showroom at 1301 Castro St to try on 200+ samples in sizes 0–20, or a free 20-minute virtual design consultation from anywhere. We ship worldwide from San Francisco.
