How to take your measurements

How do I provide measurements?

Lace & Liberty will provide a detailed list of measurements for your dress so all aspects are accounted for. You can have them taken at a local seamstress or schedule a time for a Zoom call with our team to take then together on a call.

Will my "Made to Measure" gown fit perfectly and will I still need alterations?

Our goal in providing a made to measure service is to have our products to suit your body shape as best as possible. However, even with Made-to-Measure products we don’t expect that all items will fit perfectly upon receipt, however as they are made for your proportions our brides generally require less alterations compared to standard sizing. A perfect fit can only be achieved in person with an experienced seamstress. Our gowns have been designed for easy alterations or adjustments and we highly recommend booking in a seamstress appointment early on to avoid rush.

Body measurement guide

Measurements for Bridal Top:

  1. Bust:    ___  inches (This will be a measurement around your chest across the widest point of your chest)
  2. Natural Waist: ___  inches (Your natural waist - i.e the skinniest part of your waist - this is where your skirt waistband will sit. Tip: place your hands on your hips and tilt to the side, the crease that forms on your side is where the smallest part of your waist is)
  3. Neck to Chest: ____ inches  (This should be from the highest point of your shoulder - i.e. where where your neck & shoulders meet - to your “breast point” - i.e. the nipple)
  4. Neck to Waist: ____ inches  (This is from the highest point of your shoulder, over your breast, to your waist)
  5. Neck to above Hip Bone (Top Length) ______ inches (This is from the highest point of your shoulder, over your breast, to right above your hipbone - the length of the top itself)
  6. Upper Chest Width____ inches  (Measure the distance between armpit to armpit)
  7. Upper Chest Circumference ____ inches  (Start at your armpit and measure around your body until you end up at the same place you started)
  8. Your usual street sizing _______

Measurements for Bridal Skirt:

  1. Natural Waist: ___  inches (Your natural waist - i.e the skinniest part of your waist - this is where your skirt waistband will sit. Tip: place your hands on your hips and tilt to the side, the crease that forms on your side is where the smallest part of your waist is)
  2. Lower Waist: ____ inches  (This is halfway between your waist and your hips)
  3. Hips: ____ inches  (Measure around your hips - this should be the widest part of your hips)
  4. Waist to Floor____ inches  (Measure the distance from your waist to the floor - while standing barefoot heels)
  5. Height ____ inches  (Your height, without shoes)
  6. Heel Height____ inches  (The expected heigh of your heels on your wedding day)
  7. Length of Train ____ inches
  8. Your usual street sizing & height _______

  8. Upper Chest Width____ inches  (Measure the distance between armpit to armpit)
  9. Upper Chest Circumference ____ inches  (Start at your armpit and measure around your body until you end up at the same place you started)
